Prof. Ikonne, Anointed Candidate of Gov Ikpeazu, Emerges PDP Flagbearer in Abia

Prof. Uche Ikonne has emerged as flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2023 Abia gubernatorial election.
Ikonne, Politics Digest, gathered is the anointed candidate of incumbent Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

He polled 468 votes at a shadow poll for gubernatorial aspirants of the PDP in the Southeast State.
The primaries, held in Umuahia, on Wednesday, was contested by 10 aspirants.
Ikonne, a former Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, was immediately trailed by Lucky Igbokwe, who came second with 45 votes.
Minority Leader of the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, who Politics Digest, earlier reported had withdrawn from the race, got 5 votes.
