Rebuttal of the Mischievous Statement Denigrating The South East Credited To Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin
My first reaction to the trending story of my denigrating remark on the South-East was to ignore and focus on the gathering political tasks of the season. But, having weighed the gravity of letting a bunch of mischief-makers take control of one’s narrative, I felt compelled to set the record: I HAVE NEVER WRITTEN A COMMENTARY OR GRANTED AN INTERVIEW TO SUGGEST THAT IGBO MUST EMBRACE ISLAM BEFORE THEY CAN BECOME PRESIDENT IN NIGERIA.

The thought of dispensing this ridiculous recommendation alone is cringeworthy, and it makes me imagine the crass lack of intelligence that must’ve inspired the authors whose sole motive is to wipe ethnic sentiment in a desperate attempt to secure the support of the south east region they claim is theirs. I know the characters threatened by our political trajectory, and their obsessions with the alliances we are building for our party the NNPP and Presidential Candidate, Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso PhD FNSE across the country and with other patriots.
This fabricated story bears their fingerprints, and it’s a shame that dirty politics is being prioritized by a political camp in search of cross-regional alliances. We’ve refused to take their serials bait to partake in mudslinging. We respect our opponents even in the harshest of political climates because our overriding objective isn’t to build a digital echo chamber like theirs.
It’s rather confusing that while political parties and stakeholders across the country are building alliances to boost their electoral chances, the thought-leaders of a certain political camp feel that fabricating false and ridiculous stories to de-market their opponents is a winning strategy.
I therefore urge the general public to disregard this evil propaganda and always verify statements from appropriate and reliable sources especially during politically charged period like this.
