2023: I will Reconcile Atiku, Wike – Shekarau
By Ozumi Abdul
The Senator representing Kano Central in the National Assembly and former governor of the state, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, has promised to end the lingering feud between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the of Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike.
Mallam Shekarau who earlier this week formally defected back to the PDP also promised to work with Atiku, to ensure his success in the 2023 election.
He noted that both Atiku and Wike are not new to him, adding that he will do his best to achieve reconciliation between the duo
“I think I have been reading about this disagreement or whatever you call it. Wike, I have known him to be a team player, he was Minister of State when I was the Minister of Education.

“So Wike is nothing new to me, Atiku is nothing new to me. I am sure I will be part of the efforts other elders of the party have been making to bring peace.
“We want a peaceful election, we want a peaceful party machinery that will carry everyone along.
On his reason for defecting from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the PDP, Mallam Shekarau said it was purely based on national interest.
Shekarau also decried the level of insincerity in the NNPP, as he recalled how the former governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, received him when he made the open declaration to join the party on the 18th of May.
Shekarau recalled that he was instantly given the party’s Kano Central Senatorial ticket on the same day, only to see a hand written press release containing candidates’ names where his name was omitted the following day, and had to challenge Kwankwaso that it was unacceptable.
