“Release Me, and South East’s Insecurity will End” – Nnamdi Kanu tell FG

POLITICS DIGEST- The embattled leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has said that it will only take him two minutes to end the perennial insecurity in the Southeast region if released from detention.

The IPOB, leader also claimed that some people In government are making money from the insecurity happening in the South East.

Kanu said this when he appeared in court on Tuesday for his bail application which was later denied by the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako.

Recall that his detention has been a contentious issue, and some stakeholders believe that his release could be a political solution in addressing the rising insecurity in the region.

Mr. Kanu and his co-defendant are facing treasonable felony charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

He has, upon jumping bail, been accused of engaging in subversive activities that include inciting violence through television, radio and online broadcasts against the Nigerian state and institutions.

Kanu was also accused of instigating violence especially in Southeastern Nigeria that resulted in the loss of lives and property of civilians, military, para-military, police forces and destruction of civil institutions and symbols of authorities.

The Southeast zone has faced numerous challenges after his arrest, ranging from political unrest to killing of security personnels which have contributed to instability in the region

Despite these issues, there are ongoing efforts by community leaders and government officials to address these concerns and find sustainable solutions.
