Revisit Your Position in 2015, Danaudi Tells Southern Governors
POLITICS DIGEST – Mr. Sani Danaudi Mohammed has advised Governors of the South to revisit their position about the Presidency in 2015.
He said before 2015 Presidential elections there was strong agreement that power should be rotated within the North and South after every eight years term.
Danaudi Mohammed, in a press statement, said the South cannot get the presidency by threats, but through dialogue.
“…they were the first to vehemently opposed the zoning arrangement to favour the former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the judgement by competent court of jurisdiction then already jettison any zoning arrangement and described it as unconstitutional.
“We all know that in 2011 , Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan went round the country and the North in particular to seek and rally support which earned him National acceptance. It is surprising that even those that are in the picture on how President Muhammadu Buhari came to power in 2015 were in attendance when this communique was drafted and issued having been in the circle that move round the country to solicit for power to return to the North after the death of former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

“The position of the Southern Governors as content in the communique is nothing but another attempt to create another circle of confusion ahead of the 2023 National elections. It is a Known fact that no region has the monopoly of power and for any region to produce the next President it must be an issue of consultations within other zones to seek for support.
“We have repeatedly said that Presidency is not a regional arrangements but a National arrangements which means that should the southern zone dream of returning to power in 2023 be real then they must urgently think beyond issuing treatening Statements as the North has all the required number to remain in power.
“On the anti-grazing law ,We are strongly calling on the Federal Government to wave into this ugly terrain through collaboration with the State Governments in the Southern region to end this feud because banning this long heritage without putting something on the table will only add fire to already boiling water.
“As a peace Youths Advocacy group , We shall remain committed to providing necessary assistance by complementing Government efforts to bring peace to table of all Nigerians irrespective of their tribes or religion.
“To this end ,We are calling on the Federal Government and the Security agencies to shift back urgently to the North West where bandits are currently running their show. The recent kidnapping of students in Kaduna state is not only saddened but shocking.
“We shall on our part continue to support all Government efforts to restore peace in the North and by extension to the country at large while calling on the State Governors to rally round the President Muhammadu Buhari led Government to restore back the lost glory of Nigeria.”
