Kogi Polls: Rigging is in PDP’S DNA, But We’ll Resist it -Adeyemi
POLITICS DIGEST – The Director General of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council Senator Smart Adeyemi has said the party will resist the alleged rigging plan of the opposition PDP in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi.
Senator Adeyemi, who spoke yesterday in Ankpa at the continuation of the party’s rally, said his position was coming on the heels of the “rejection” of the main opposition party’s candidate by one of the PDP state leaders, former governor Ibrahim Idris, “who chased out both the candidate and deputy from his Abuja residence”.
Adeyemi who alleged that the rejection of Wada/Aro candidacy by its own party bigwigs has left them with only an option of rigging, also urged governors and business men not to waste their resources on the opposition.

“Former governor Ibrahim Idris has shown us that the PDP candidate is not acceptable or sellable. By chasing out the party candidate who went with Oyo State governor to beg at his residence in Abuja, shows clearly there is no hope for the opposition PDP.
“The opposition too are now aware that they have lost it. The only option they are thinking of is to cause mayhem during the election and rig.
“But we will not allow that. They have done it in the past. Rigging is in their DNA. But we will vigorously resist any attempt to rig the November 16 gubernatorial election.
“You cannot expect youths, especially those serving in various capacities in this government, to fold their hands and allow electoral malpractice,” he said. But the Deputy Director, Public Communication of PDP Governorship Campaign Council, Austin Okai, debunked the allegations that former Governor Ibrahim Idris rejected and chased the party’s governorship candidate, Engr Musa Wada away from his residence in Abuja.
He said the PDP had continued to gain swelling supports across the state to the chagrin of the ruling party, adding its party was sure of overwhelming victory at the poll.
On the alleged rigging plan by PDP, Okai said it was rather the APC that has perfected its rigging machineries having seen that the people of the state have “roundly” rejected Governor Yahaya Bello on the account of his non-performance.
