SDP Affirms Suspension of Isiaq Ahmed over Anti-party Activities

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), under the leadership of Dr. Olu Agunloye, has confirmed the suspension of Deputy National Chairman (North), Dr. Abdul Isiaq Ahmed, and his team.
This was contained in a statement titled: “A Rebuttal of The Illegal And Misleading Actions of Suspended Deputy National Chairman (North), Dr. Abdul Isiaq Ahmed, And His Collaborators” issued to journalists by the National Publicity Secretary, Ambassador Rufus B Aiyenigba, on Monday.
Mr. Aiyenigba said that the former Deputy National Leader and his collaborators were duly suspended from the party on January 17th, 2022 by the NWC due to their gross misconduct, insubordination and alleged anti-party activities which were considered a violation of the party’s constitution.
He urged the public to disregard any other information that may have been released by the suspended former exco members.
“We heard that he has deliberately opted for litigation to seek to be declared Chairman through the back door! And having approached two courts in his desperation to undo the party, he refused to wait for the pronouncements of the courts on his prayers before deciding to preemptively act on the outcomes of his suits against the party, by arrogating to himself the Chairmanship of the party,” the statement read in part.

He further said that the former National Deputy Leader and his team were given fair hearing and an opportunity to defend themselves before they were finally suspended, adding that their suspension had been communicated to the INEC National Headquarters, Abuja, and other relevant authorities.
Aiyenigba said that Dr. Olu Agunloye-led National Working Committee (NWC) is the only national leadership of the SDP that is recognized by the INEC Headquarters, saying that the party conducted its primary elections monitored by INEC and nominated candidates in Plateau, Ondo as well as other states where the Commission declared bye-elections.
He stated that members at all levels across the country are supporting the leadership of Dr Olu Agunloye as the National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam as National Secretary and other members of the NWC.
“Dr. Agunloye remains meticulously and single-mindedly focused, determined and unwaveringly committed to strengthening and repositioning the SDP, and to championing and robust advocacy to engender a re-engineering and creation of a new model for the Nigerian nation-state towards building a good society based on the social justice ideology and pro-people manifesto of the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
“The party has set up a National Reconciliation and Dispute Resolution Committee, working collaboratively with the interventionist Special Reconciliation Committee which was set up by the new national leadership of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), he said.
