Senate To Adopt New Strategies For Effective Budget Monitoring, Implementation
POLITICS DIGEST Nigerian Senate on tuesday confirmed that it will embark on newly adopted strategies for effective monitoring of the 2022 budget.
President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan announced this while welcoming his colleague back from the Christmas & New Year recess. He told his colleagues that they must go beyond statutory oversight to doing things differently this time around.
Senator Lawan also confirmed that the committee on the constitution review will present its report for consideration and thereafter communicate State Houses of Assembly for their input, within this first quarter.

Also on tuesday, the Senate approved four resolutions following the consideration of a motion on the recent bandit attack in communities in Niger state North Central Nigeria. Among the resolutions is a call on the federal government to declare full fledge war on the bandits since they have been declared as terrorists.
Senate also urged the federal government to establish a military base in the Local Government Area which will serve a twin purpose of securing the people & protecting the Shiroro hydro electric power dam.
Four new bills were introduced on the first day of plenary in the new year 2022, including the Advanced Rent Regulation Bill.
According to Senator Smart Adeyemi who sponsored the bill, it is intended to protect a majority of Nigerians who need rented apartments or offices.
