Senate Rejection of Lauretta’s Nomination: Victory for Democracy says Northern Youths.
POLITICS DIGEST – The Northern Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has welcome the rejection of the nomination of Ms Lauretta Onochie, an erstwhile New Media Aide to President Muhammadu Buhari as INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner to Represent Delta State by Nigerian Senate; describing it as victory for democracy and confirmation of the Independence of the National Assembly.
The group cautioned those who badly counselled Mr President to make such nomination that can best be described as Coup against the Nigeria Constitution to desist from misleading him or risked facing the anger of Northern Youths.

The Council admonished the leaders of the National Assembly and other Legislative wings to continue to put Nigeria’s Democracy First above party/individual sentiments, as without democracy, Mr Senate President would have been handling Chalk in classroom or Mr Speaker would have been busy in Court without the hope of occupying the sensitive positions Democracy afforded them. This also applies to other members of the National Assembly.
The group further urged them to ensure that they safeguard democracy for the future generation so that their children would benefit from it too.
You will recall that on 10th June, 2021 Northern Youths urged the Senator Ahmed Lawan led 9th Assembly to at least put Nigeria first and reject Lauretta Onochie as INEC Commissioner. Reminding them that they swore with the Holy Qur’an/Bible to uphold the Constitution of Nigeria not to serve the interest of an individual.
