Senator Jibrin Barau, Kano North ;The Governor In Waiting For Kano State

POLITICS DIGEST- Distinguish Senator Jibrin Barau, representing Kano North is the current chairman Senate committee on appropriation of the 9th Senate and of the All Progressives Congress APC.
As a ranking federal lawmaker, he was also the chairman Senate committee on Tertiary Institutions fund TETFUND in the 8th Senate between 2015 and 2019.
Jibrin, a former member of House of Representatives from Kano state was also a commissioner and member of various boards of Kano state government before his decision to advance to the national assembly.
Having garnered enough wealth of experiences both from state and federal level, he has contributed alot to the political developement of both Kano state and Nigeria.
Senator Jibrin who returned to the Senate incontrovertibly in 2019 along with two former governors of the state representing the other two senatorial districts, Senator Ibrahim Kabir Gaya and Senator, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau
Barau, aside chairing the two sensitive committees both at the 8th and the current 9th Senate also belong to membership of series of adhoc and standing committees of the red chamber.
He was instrumental to the transparent and outstanding performances of the tertiary institutions fund TETFUND in recent times, having set a bar of success and achievements towards bridging both infrastructural, educational and research exploration and development from the tertiary institutions to the Universities,with research centres not left out.
Aside funding, attention and proliferation of many tertiary institutions as well as appointment of quality and highly qualified academics was prioritised in all the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
This was in addition to making cases for tertiary education at the floor of the Senate that had attracted alot of government attention while he held forth.
His constitutional responsibility from plenary, oversight, constituency projects was unique, aside committees functions outside Abuja, he was one of the constant and punctual senator in the Senate with quality contributions on the floor of the Senate .
Barau’s exposure was an understatement, coming from a family with a business background all over the country consisting of both the old northern, western and southern region of the country, his office was always a beehive of activities for visitors from his immediate constituency of Kano North, and many parts of the country, a situation that was ordinarily supposed to be a plus to his rich resume, but now being deployed as a political tool from salvaging the good people of Kano state in the next political journey towards 2023.
His parents from their business background had settled virtually in all parts of Nigeria, as some of his children went to federal government colleges both in the north central and the eastern parts of the country, were they settled, but in constant touch with the people at home routinely.
It will be recalled that Senator Barau was partly brought in the present Idah in Kogi state, were his parents had huge buisness interest in the early 60s and 70s, hence he had made friends across the north central, apart from his core north.

The emissaries from his constituents and his place of settlement at his early days, were always a subject of discussion at the National Assembly whenever they came around to pay homage.
His political tentacles knew no bound as a former member House of Representatives, his business background and the approachable tendencies cultivated by his upbringings.
Senator Jibrin Barau’s family name is a household name across the country, because of his acceptability and volition, a trend the Senator had sustained after so many decades.
His offices at NASS, Abuja and Kano was always a Mecca of sort, with visitors from all walks of life trooping in and out to solve both personal and official engagements, this is glaring to the general public.
In the last eight years, inspite cynicisms and political undertone/ criticisms, Senator Jibrin Barau had delivered his constituency projects from provision of water through boreholes, health intervention , education from elementary to tertiary levels, empowerment, infrastructural developement, capacity and skill development, training and retraining, topped with mega charitable tendencies.
It is only in Senator Jibrin Barau’s office and homes, that provision of mats to visitors at the reception had being a recurring issue, because of the large retinue of visitors to his house and office at the National Assembly.
His visit to his Kano home and his constituency had become a political gathering of sorts, hence the clamour before now for him to contest the next election in 2023 as Kano Governor.
This positive developement had been a nightmare to the political naysayers of Kano state, while the positive ones kept pact with fate and destiny.
He had been in the eyes of the storm of recent, not because he had not delivered on his mandate, but because it was envisaged that he had become the rallying and popular choice of the people of Kano state in 2023.
Senator Jibrin Barau, easy going, quite, accessible and assessible had displayed alot of proficiency and wealth of experience in his new assignment as chairman, Senate committee on appropriation of the current 9th Senate.
Barau was instrumental to the yearly budget circle adopted by the 9th Senate three years in a row and a departure from the skipping to the following year laced with disagreements and non agreement between the Executive and Legislature.
The seamless synergy and cooperation as a well as working template adopted by the two arms of government had moved beyond expectations the economy, infrastructural and social security of Nigeria.
The checks and balances adopted in budgeting and appropriation circle in the last few years had assisted greatly in all facets of our national life.
Such distinctive and distinguished wealth of experience laced with indigenous template is what the people of Kano state hinged on to pick the Senator representing Kano North as the next executive Governor of Kano state.
With the dynamics of Kano politics, his exposure and experience, no doubt when considered as the next Kano state Governor in 2023, alot of developement will trigger in the political anals of the state
Already tested and trusted, Senator Jibrin Barau will make a difference when elected as the next Kano Governor in 2023.
All hands must be on deck to support the political wisdom of the distinguish senator of APC, towards the political emancipation of the people of Kano state.
