Sharia Council Accuses Tinubu of Marginalizing Nigerian Muslims
POLITICS DIGEST – The Supreme Council on Islamic Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) has officially withdrawn its support for President Bola Tinubu’s government, expressing regret over endorsing the Muslim-Muslim ticket during the 2023 presidential election.
The council conveyed its disappointment in President Tinubu, accusing his administration of marginalizing the country’s Muslim population.
This announcement was made during a two-day congress held in Abuja to assess the aftermath of the 2023 presidential election. Nafiu Baba Ahmed, the Secretary-General of the council, informed reporters that the meeting aimed to provide a platform for scholars and various sects to voice their grievances arising from the recent election.
Following his victory at the Supreme Court, should the opposition join hands with President Bola Tinubu and share ideas with him on best way to move Nigeria forward?

He said, “We were in the vanguard of mobilising scholars, various sects, and Islamic groups to bring this government to power. But the scholars and various groups feel neglected, accusing the government of turning its back on Muslims, despite voting in the Muslim-Muslim ticket.”
According to him the gathering provided the avenue for Muslims to freely express themselves, seeing the Tinubu regime has reneged on all the promises made to secure the majority of the Muslim votes.
“We’re bitterly disappointed because we gave our all to bring this government on board, but they’re paying us back this way; Is this the kind of reward we bargained for?
“They’ve elevated opponents of the Muslim-Muslim ticket to mock us, in the same manner, they’re frustrating everything that will advance the cause of Islam or anything that is promoting the interest of Muslims.
“We’ve truly regretted that we voted in this government. We’ve looked the president in his face and told him that he has disappointed us, Muslims,” Baba Ahmed added.
