She Was a Heroine, Exemplary Activist As Ganduje Mourns Sickle Cell Warrior
POLITICS DIGEST– Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state describes the death of a committed activist against Sickle Cell in Kano state, which snowballed into national arena, Shema’u Adam Imam, who was until her death, a level 400 Microbiology student, in Bayero University, Kano and a member of Sickle Trust Fund, as suffocation to the fight against Sickle Cell in the country.
“As a level 400 student of Microbiology, before her death, Shema’u Imam as the Chairperson of Sickle Cell community in Kano, was a focused and efficiently committed young lady, who believed in total service to humanity,” governor Ganduje said.

As a Sickle Cell patient, that, according to the governor, did not slow her absolute dedication, resilience, responsible and responsive fight for others in the community, against the health challenge, emphasising that, “She was an exemplary shining star as well as a HEROINE.”
“It is pertinent to therefore, on behalf of the government and the good people of Kano state, extend our heartfelt and deep sadness condolence over this lost, while remembering the gap created by this death, to her families, Sickle Cell communities across the nation, friends and all other groups,” he said.
Her footsteps were big enough to accommodate many feet before the Sickle Cell community gets the most appropriate replacement, adding that, “We must encourage others to take a leaf from her many contributions when she was alive. As young as she was, she achieved many things in life. Things that were people-centred. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
Governor Ganduje further commiserates with Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR), Youth and Environment Development Assoxuation (YEDA), Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation, Sicke Cell Community orgaistaions, CITAD, Mufarka Youth Development Association, KANET, Kano Civil Sociery Forum and many more over the death of the HEROINE.
