Shouldn’t Gov Fayemi Resign As NGF Chairman?
POLITICS DIGEST – Nigeria’s Governors Forum under Gov Kayode Fayemi is no doubt failing in a tremendous way. The organization seems to have lost its purpose, but unfortunately, this should not be so.
It is my opinion that since its establishment some years ago, the forum has not been this leaderless.
The purpose of the forum is to facilitate cooperation between states and promote collaboration for social, economic, security and political advancement.
However, while Fayemi led Governors Forum seems to have abandoned its mandate, without any sustained desire to advance its purpose, Southern and Northern Governors Forum under him were tearing the country apart on clownish basis.

This is what often happens when an organization’s leadership has lost purpose.
To make matter worse, while NGF where Fayemi is chairman remain docile, the same Fayemi was at Southern Governors Forum meeting and equally endorsed their divisive political and economic proclamations, thereby working against the purpose of the organization he’s heading and ceding his responsibility to regional champions.
So, where’s leadership responsibility in Fayemi’s NGF?
Instead of shaping the conversation, providing leadership to the governors and facilitating concensus on national issues, NGF has remained mute and instead, became spectator.
If Gov Fayemi no longer believe in the vision of and can no longer provide leadership for the NGF, isn’t it more honourable for him to resign as NGF chairman?
The forum need a leadership that can champion its purpose with unrivaled passion and determination
