Families of Slain Customs Officers to Get Insurance Payments Soon – NCS Boss
POLITICS DIGEST – The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has assured that the families of the offcers who were killed on duty recently will receive their insurance payments as soon as the paper works are completed.
He disclosed this during a courtesy visit to Image Merchants Promotion (Limited), the publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, in Abuja on Tuesday.
In August, the Spokesman for the Kebbi State Command, Mubarak Mustapha, confirmed the killing of two of its personnel by gunmen suspected to be bandits.
He confirmed that the officers were on a stop-and-search operation along the Bunza – Dankingari- Koko road when the suspected bandits in a Toyota Corolla car engaged them in a shootout.

The two personnel of the Command, named Alhaji Kabiru Shehu, an Inspector of Customs and Abdullahi Muhammad, a Customs Assistant II, paid the supreme price in the melee that ensued.
While commiserating with the families on the tragic incident, he said: “We are religiously working on it to ensure that these families are given full insurance of their deceased entitlements with no hindrances.
“Customs has two life insurance schemes which are Group Life Insurance which is about 300% of salaries of our fallen heroes and Group Personal Accident insurance scheme for officers who suffer accidents on duty.
“I will also ensure that the payment of this insurance is upheld to cushion the hardship of bereaved families and strive further to improve the welfare of officers.”
