Anxiety as Supreme Court Rules on Kano Guber Poll Monday
POLITICS DIGEST – Anxiety has gripped politicians since news filtered in that the Supreme Court will deliver its judgment on the Kano State governorship election on Monday.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress was declared winner in the 2019 governorship election in the state, defeating his closest rival, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The PDP in Kano State and its candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Sokoto, challenged the victory up to the Supreme Court after losing at both the Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
Yusuf had challenged the judgments of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal and that of the Court of Appeal that dismissed his petition for lack of merit.
If the apex court rules in PDP’s favour, Yusuf will be sworn in within 72 hours of the judgment, whereas if it reaffirms the verdict of the lower courts, Governor Ganduje will retain his seat till 2023.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Kano as security personnel have been station in different strategic location across the state capital to avert any possible reaction after the verdict.
