JUST IN: Supreme Court to hear Atiku’s Petition Against Tinubu on Monday

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has announced plan to hear the appeal filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate in the February 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Atiku had filed an appeal against the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) which threw out his case for lack of merit.

The apex court in a memo signed by its Registrar, Zainab M. Garba, on Thursday and made available to POLITICS DIGEST, set Monday, 23rd of October, 2023 for the hearing.
Atiku had also applied for leave of the Supreme Court to file fresh evidence against President Tinubu, accusing him to have submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as a prerequisite for qualification to participate in the 2023 presidential election.
The former Vice – President had received a 32-paged document on request of President Tinubu’s certificate from Chicago State University (CSU) claiming that, there is evidence that the 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate submitted a forged certificate to INEC.
