Terhemen Tarzoor: Endorsing an Ambassador for Tinubu’s Cabinet
By Mervin Terry
Nigeria continues to move forward, not affected by the political and economic circumstances, whether favorable or challenging, the Nigeria people have faith in the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, owing to his promises and foresight in recruiting capable hands to superintend the affairs of functioning government institutions.
There is no better a time to be a Nigerian than now, because every eye is open to witness enormous transformation and every mouth willing to expression satisfaction and dissatisfaction depending on how the administration would positively impact the Nigerian people through people oriented working policies.
Benue state has had Ministers in previous administrations and dispensation who effectively advanced the cause of Benue development and growth using Federal Executive Council meetings as avenue to lobby the President and attract projeo for the State.
It is that time and season again, and we must in the interest of our Country and State select a young man who is well-informed, perceptive and proactive, with Dr Terhemen Tarzoor in mind.
With respect to whatever sentiments we may hold, no sentiment should cloud our sense of judgement of the personality involved here (Dr Terhemen Tarzoor), by trying to push forward inconsequential factors like tribe and political zone.
Dr. Terhemen Tarzoor has a sound education and work background, having worked with the Catholic Church, Makurdi Diocese as Secretary for years, and later a Part-time lecturer with the then Federal University Of Agriculture, now Sarwuan Tarka University Of Agriculture, Makurdi.
Dr Tarzoor, bagged his first degree at the prestigious Benue State University, graduating in Economics in 1999, and after graduation from the University he underwent the mandatory National Youth Service Crops (NYSC), where he served in Central Bank Of Nigeria, Enugu.
He has a Master Of Business Administration (MBA), Majoring in Banking and Finance. He further obtained another Master Of Science Degree (M.Sc) in Economics.
Ambassador Tarzoor, meritoriously bagged a Doctorate Degree in Monetary Economics. He is a fellow of Nigerian Institute of Chartered Economists and also an alumnus of Harvard University (USA) with a certificate in Trade Policy and another certificate in Monetary Policy, from Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (USA).

Ambassador Tarzoor, contested and won the State Assembly election representing the good people of Makurdi North, 2007, and while in the State Assembly, he held sway in various leadership positions as Majority Whip and Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, and would eventually become Speaker of the State Assembly in 2011 with indelible marks to his name.
Dr Terhemen Tarzoor, was the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2015 general elections, a party he left since 2018.
Dr Terhemen Tarzoor, is a young man who understands that Nigeria people deserve good leadership having served unblemished in various capacities. He has good knowledge of Nigeria political history and economy.
He is currently serving the Nation in the capacity of Ambassador, as Nigerian High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia, a position he is using to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperations between the two countries in areas of comparative advantage.
With conscientious selection of individuals witnessed so far in the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, by entrusting key appointments in the hands of sound, vibrant and energetic young people of high intellect below the age of 60yrs, it is very essential that stakeholders and party leaders do not fall off the wagon, but seize this moment to unanimously endorse and support Dr Terhemen Tarzoor, and collectively pursue to secure this Ministerial appointment for him, not just for the growth of Nigeria, but the benefit and development of Benue State, regardless of our individual ambitions.
We must as a people strive, find hope and inspiration in the possibilities that lies ahead of us. If we fail to take advantage of the shift in leadership as evident with recent appointments by the President, we might be creating a space for mediocrity to flourish in our society rather than credibility to the detriment of development.
More significantly, no factor is enough to consider an individual for an appointment except for credibility with extent volume of knowledge required to bargain for such a position. And to sustain the gains and secure the future, we must not pervert from the current leadership trend or go off course.
Dr Tarzoor meets all requirements, he is eminently qualified with stunning degree of work and political experience, hence a perfect fit.
Every Benue son and daughter are eminently qualified, but Dr Terhemen Tarzoor, when appointed Minister, his appointment will certainly put a round peg in a round hole without question of lacking competence and character.
To this end, it behoves on us as a State to consider a man with great strength of mind and courage with uncommon pedigree and charisma as our Ministerial Nominee.
