Kogi Guber: Tinubu Flags Off APC Campaign, Assures Infrastructural Development

Ahead of the Kogi state gubernatorial election slated for November 11, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday officially flagged off the campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja, the state capital.
The President who was represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, assured the people of Kogi state that the Ajaokuta steel project is nearing completion and would attract the employment of 500,000 Nigerians.
Shettima reiterated the commitment of Tinubu’s administration to the completion of vital infrastructural projects in the state, which he said include River Niger, Kabba-Lokoja and Abuja-Lokoja-Okene roads.
He then lauded the President as a leader with innovative ideas, who is determined to position Nigeria favourably on the global stage.
He highlighted the importance of restructuring and stimulating the Nigerian economy as key aspects of Tinubu’s vision for the nation.
“Given Mr. President’s commitment to the development of Kogi State and indeed the entirety of Nigeria, Kogi, in particular, being a confluence state, cannot afford to have a governor who is hostile to the centre.
“We must be partners in progress and work hand in hand to develop this great nation,” he said.
Shettima also shared plans to realise the Itakpe crop processing project and promised jobs and affordable education under the current administration.

Underscoring the unwavering commitment to citizens’ welfare, Shettima called on the people of Kogi to turn out in large numbers on November 11 and vote for the APC candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, to build upon the achievements of the APC government in the state.
He assured that Kogi’s natural resources would be harnessed for the state’s and the nation’s development.
Furthermore, he said the President has approved the rehabilitation of the Obajana-Okene road in the state.
While speaking, the state governor, Yahaya Bello expressed gratitude to the President for flagging off the governorship campaign.
He highlighted the achievements of his administration in the areas of security, education, and health, as he also called for the unity of the people of the state.
Also speaking at the rally was the APC national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who emphasised the importance of continuity and good governance under Governor Bello’s leadership.
He urged that Kogi should not deviate from the party in power at the federal level.
Also, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, who is the chairman of the APC Campaign Council for the state, encouraged Kogi citizens to ensure their voter cards were in order and to vote for the APC candidate in the November 11 governorship election.
Meanwhile, the APC candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, pledged to carry all the people of the state along if elected irrespective of their ethnic or religious biases.
He assured that his ambition is that of Kogi, and not a tribal or religious one.
He expressed his commitment to the development agenda of the state, promising to improve the security, education, agriculture, health, and women’s empowerment situations of the state.
Prominent figures that attended the rally included Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Minister of Steel Development Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, and members of the National Working Committee of the APC, among others.
