Tinubu Mourns as ‘Multiple’ Explosions in Imo Refinery Kill 100

A former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, condoled with Governor Hope Uzodinma, and families of the victims of a refinery explosion in Imo State.
Tinubu, Politics Digest learnt, also sympathized with the people of the Southeast State, over the loss of over 100 lives in ‘devastating’ explosions at an illegal refinery in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government forest.
He prayed almighty God repose the souls of those that were killed in the disaster.

A statement by the Tinubu Media Office quoted the 2023 presidential hopeful, however, calling for the prosecution of the owner of the illegal refinery, and his accomplices.
Part of the statement reads: “My thoughts and prayers are with all the people of Imo. This is a difficult moment for your state and Nigeria.
“This senseless disaster must not be allowed to reoccur, in Imo or anywhere in Nigeria.
“The owner of the illegal refinery and his accomplices in his criminal enterprise must be apprehended and made to answer for this crime and its devastating consequences.
“As a nation, we can no longer turn a blind eye to the criminality of this nature. The consequences are simply too much to bear”.
