Ugochinyere Faces Recall as Constituents Accuse Him of Neglect
…. Praise Uzodimma’s Intervention
POLITICS DIGEST- Hon. Ugochinyere Ikenga, the federal lawmaker representing Ideato Federal Constituency, faces a potential recall as his constituents have expressed dissatisfaction with his performance, accusing him of prioritizing personal political interests over the needs of the community.
This development was announced at a grand ceremony held in Umuchima autonomous community, Ideato South, where key community and political stakeholders gathered to honor Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
The event was organized to commend the governor for his decisive intervention in addressing a severe erosion problem that had threatened to cut off the constituency from the rest of the state.
The chairman of the Ideato South Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Ewuzie, formally welcomed the delegation and conveyed the community’s appreciation for Governor Uzodimma’s efforts. Stakeholders lauded the governor for promptly awarding the erosion control project to Craneburg, a reputable construction company, and ensuring swift commencement of work. They acknowledged that while the constituency has historically produced high-profile leaders, including a governor, senator, and federal lawmakers, it was under Uzodimma’s administration that meaningful action was taken to resolve the long-standing erosion crisis.

Speakers at the event emphasized the governor’s focus on public service, noting that he is not currently seeking any political office. They praised his intervention as a testament to his commitment to good governance and his non-partisan approach to leadership.
However, the event also provided a platform for community leaders to express frustration with Hon. Ugochinyere Ikeagwonu, the constituency’s current representative in the National Assembly. They accused him of neglecting the constituency’s pressing issues, particularly the erosion problem, while pursuing his personal political agenda and engaging in unwarranted attacks on Governor Uzodimma.
In response to these grievances, a formal motion for the recall of Hon. Ikeagwonu was introduced by Hon. Okechukwu Udenze, the representative for Ideato North in the Imo State House of Assembly. The motion received widespread support from community members and political figures in attendance.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Hon. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, Southeast Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Hon. Ikechukwu Umeh, Imo APC Organizing Secretary; Hon. Nkechi Ugwu, Commissioner for Women Affairs; and the executive chairmen of Ideato North and South, Hon. Chinonso Okparaeke and Hon. Okechukwu Okwara, along with vice chairmen and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) chairmen of both areas.
The ceremony concluded with a call for unity among the people of Ideato Federal Constituency, as leaders urged the community to focus on collective progress and development, working together to rebuild and advance the region.
