UN Deputy Sec Gen, Malala Hail Borno NGO School for Empowering Disadvantaged Girls

The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, and Nobel laureate, Malala Yousafzai, on Tuesday, visited the GCC Girl’s Academy in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Hajiya Hauwa Gwoma, the Coordinator of the Academy, while receiving Amina and Malala, provided a comprehensive briefing on the school’s vital role in supporting adolescent girls affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.
She outlined the incredible work carried out by the GCC Girl’s Academy to empower and uplift girls who have been largely displaced by the atrocities of Boko Haram terrorists.

“The academy has become a beacon of hope, offering education, support, and a safe environment for these brave young women to rebuild their lives. However, due to the temporary nature of its facilities, there is an urgent need for a permanent location to ensure the continuity of these commendable efforts.”
Recognizing the immense impact the academy has on the lives of these resilient girls, Malala Yousafzai, a passionate advocate for girls’ education and empowerment, pledged her unwavering support to the GCC Girl’s Academy.
Malala promised to utilize her global platform and resources to help sustain and expand the academy’s initiatives.
The visit not only underscored the urgent need for sustained support but also served as a powerful reminder of the strength and potential that lies within every girl, regardless of their circumstances.
