Professor Ibrahim Gambari is a highly respected diplomat who has extensive experience in conflict resolution and international relations.
Gambari was once a special envoy to Darfur and has used his wealth of experience in diplomacy by bringing an end to the Darfur crisis.
It would be recalled that hundreds of people have been killed and thousands wounded since the fighting that erupted in Sudan on April 15 between forces loyal to Sudan’s army chief and the commander of the powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Nigeria, as a neighbouring country to Sudan, has a significant role to play in bringing an end to this crisis. At a time Nigeria is battling Boko Haram in the North East and Bandits in the North Western region, there is the need for the country to intervene in Sudan for the interest of peace and economic stability.
Thousands of Nigerians are in Sudan for a hustle, studying different courses in Sudan universities. The country has graduated thousands of graduates, including medical doctors and engineers.
Jigawa state government has more than 500 students in sudan, apart from other students from the southern part of the country.
Sudan has the largest population of Nigerians in the diaspora, with an estimated population of 8 million Nigerians.
The war in Sudan will bring a rapid increase in the number of Internally Displaced Person’s in Nigeria and has put a lot Nigerians into hardship.

It will be diplomatically wise for Nigeria to intervene in coming to the table with all the parties involved for a final cease fire.
This intervention should be through the renowned international development management expert and diplomat of note Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari.
He is one of the best scholars who is versatile and familiar with the political and cultural context of the African continent, his appointment as a special envoy to Sudan will reflects Nigeria’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.
