2023: Why Rivers won’t Vote for PDP’s Atiku – Wike
By Ozumi Abdul
The Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, on Monday said the people of Rivers state have not gained anything from supporting the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidates since 1999.
Wike who spoke while inaugurating the state campaign council in Port Harcourt said all the party does is to harvest votes in millions from the state and abandon the state afterwards.
He added that ahead of the 2023 presidential election, Rivers people will only vote for a candidate who will define the stake of his state in his government.

Wike also accused Atiku of sidelining him by picking the state’s PDP presidential campaign nominees without his consent.
He noted that Atiku selected enemies of Rivers into his campaign council for the 2023 general elections.
“Some people have asked me why haven’t they seen the presidential candidate’s picture and the party chairman’s. I said what are you talking about? The presidential candidate entered my state and picked members of the presidential council without a whole governor of a state having a contribution,” Wike said.
Wike however noted that he will campaign for other candidates of the PDP at state and National Assembly levels.
