Yahaya Bello Mourns Former Oyo Governor, Otunba Alao-Akala
… Says he made an indelible mark in governance
POLITICS DIGEST – Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has sent condolences to the Government and people of Oyo State over the demise of her former Governor, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala, who passed on in the early hours of Wednesday
Alao-Akala, who won the gubernatorial election in 2007 and served until 2011, died at age 71. The elder statesman reportedly died in his country home in Ogbomoso after battling an undisclosed ailment.

However, Governor Bello, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammed Onogwu, said the death of the former Governor is a great loss to the state owing to his contribution to governance.
“He served the state, contributing to all sectors including health and education. He saw a need in improving the health sector and put the facilities in shape during his tenure. Otunba Alao-Akala will surely be missed by the people of the state.”
“I pray that the Almighty God will grant him a peaceful rest in the world beyond.”
The Governor also sympathised with friends, relatives and allies of the former Governor, praying that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
