Yakubu Fannami: Tribute to a Hero, by Hurso Adam
POLITICS DIGEST– In times of insurgency like this, it’s not only soldiers that demonstrate the spirit of patriotism in protecting the lives of citizens, civilians have taken part as a collective responsibility to protect the people against the attack of evil Boko Haram.
The people of Borno State and North East have in the last 11 years witness a horrific life as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency.
The bombings, killings and many attacks have disrupted the economic activities and development of the state and region in particular.
It is so sad that Borno State that was known for as Home of Peace has not witness peace in the last 11 years.
We thank God with the coming of the Buhari administration, peace is returning to its home gradually.
I’m writing this tribute to remember a fallen hero that sacrifice his life for others, a young man that’s full of life with a very good heart of love, patriotism and commitment to his people Yakubu Fannami.
Fannami was a teenager bubbling with life and hope for a better tomorrow. He was an SS1 student in Kaleri, Borno State.

He sacrificed his life to save hundreds of others who would by now have become history on one very friday while praying for jumaat. No thanks to a female suicide bomber who had wanted to blow them up while praying.
He saw the danger and did everything he could to prevent the bomber from gaining access to the mosque. She detonated and blew herself up with him while other worshippers were saved.
Yakubu Fannami is a hero that saw evil and stood against it. But for this, history will forever be kind to you. The life of this young man was cut short but it was meaningful.
I’m calling on the Borno State Government to immortalise Yakubu Fannami for his bravery, patriotism and sacrifice to save the lives of hundreds of people.
While honoring a number of resilient nurses, doctors and teachers for not running from their places of work at the time of insurgency, governor Zulum should name one of his projects after the young Yakubu Fannami as a reminder to the general public that we all have a role to play for national development.
This will also put a smile on the face of his parents, siblings and friends that Yakubu Fannami will forever be remembered over what he died for.
May Allah forgive and grant him eternal rest.
Sleep well my brother!
