Yarima to Contest For President in 2023
POLITICS DIGEST – The former Governor of Zamfara State, Ahmed Sani Yerima has declared his interest of contesting in the 2023 presidential election.
He said his declaration had become necessary following permutation by different groups across the country approached him to seek the highest office.
Yerima, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain has ruled Zamfara state for eight years and has served as a Senator for twelve years from the state, noted that attaining the presidency would help him make a difference in the lives of Nigerians.

“The APC has set a standard of producing a presidential candidate through direct primaries and by the grace of Allah I will contest the primaries.
“People will look for a candidate that has something to offer for the country, a common man will not look for money but will look for what I can offer to the country,” Yerima said.
Yerima promised to fight poverty, create job opportunities and address the infrastructural gap in the country.
The ex-governor said that while President Muhammadu Buhari was doing well in the fight against corruption and addressing insecurity, a lot more needed to be done to address poverty and unemployment.
Yarima has once contested for Nigeria’s President in 2007, when he completed his second tenure as Zamfara Governor, but lost to the current president Muhammadu Buhari as the flagbearer of the defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP).
