APC chairman: I will support whoever Buhari nominates – Ali Modu Sheriff

Former Borno state governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has stated that he will give his support to any candidate President Muhammadu Buhari nominates to lead the party.
Sheriff, who is one of the contestants for the APC chairmanship position, said the party is bigger than any individual.

Speaking in an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Sheriff however argued that the President is yet to nominate anyone for the position.
He added that all the aspirants are qualified for the position but the interest of the party must come first.
“If the party finds me worthy of the position, fine, I’m very much capable. And if they choose someone else, it’s still not bad, what is important is for the party to retain power in 2023,” Sheriff said.
He stressed that the President is more knowledgeable and experienced in politics, adding that whatever he says has to be in the overall interest of the party.
