2027: Atiku Not Seeking Presidency for Personal Wealth – Wife

POLITICS DIGEST — The wife of the Africa Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mrs Titi Abubakar, has said her husband does not need Nigerians’ money but wants to “give back to society” if elected in 2027.

Mrs Abubakar said this in a video shared on TV Platinum’s X page on Friday, where she was seen campaigning for her husband at a rally.

She described the former Vice-President as a philanthropist and an experienced hand who would not need to learn on the job if elected.

“Atiku is a sellable material. That is why I’m so proud of my husband. Atiku is a philanthropist. Atiku has done it before. Atiku is not going to learn on the job, and Atiku is not a novice,” she said.

The ADC chieftain’s wife dismissed insinuations that her husband, who will turn 80 this year, still harboured personal ambitions for wealth or power, insisting his motivation was service.

“Atiku doesn’t want Nigerians’ money. Atiku just wants to give back to the society what the society has done for him. Because many people keep saying, what is he looking for? Very soon, he’s going to be 80,” she said.

Mrs Abubakar added that her husband intended to mentor young Nigerians in governance and predicted that citizens would eventually ask him to serve a second term, even though he had initially indicated he would serve only once.

“Atiku wants to tutor you, children, how politics is being made Nigerians will be yearning for Atiku for a second time — that he said he was going to do just one time. But Nigerians will yearn for him and bring him, “ she said.

She lamented the state of the country’s economy and governance under the current administration.

Now, today, we have no constitution. We have no rule of law. Nothing is working. Our economy is in shambles. And I wonder how people are living. I wonder how people are eating,” she said.

Mrs Abubakar said that by the time Atiku completed a term, he would have prepared his running mate to succeed him.

“By the grace of God, when Atiku comes to this table, I told you, people will yearn that Atiku should continue and do a second time.

By then, he will have tutored his deputy. Maybe the deputy will take over from him,” she said.
