Fani-Kayode Attacks Wike, Says Rivers Governor Destroying PDP with Arrogance, Tyranny

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has described Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, as a tyrant who is destroying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with his arrogance and disrespectful attitude towards other governors and party leaders.
Fani-Kayode who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), said Wike is the main reason governors, senators and other serious politicians are leaving the party in droves.
Governors Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara) and Ben Ayade (Cross River) had recently defected to the APC, having won elections on the platform of the PDP.
Speaking on AIT in a live programme monitored by PoliticsDigest, Fani-Kayode said he is too big to join issues with Wike, having held crucial national positions when the governor was still languishing in the creeks.
Fani-Kayode was responding to criticism coming from Wike over his defection to a party he had vehemently attacked since 2015.
“You spoke about Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers state. He talks about integrity, what integrity does he have?Look at his antecedents, how long has he been in the PDP? I have been in the PDP since 2001 while he was still in the creeks. When did he come to PDP? I was a minister 14 years ago. I worked for a PDP President for three to four years in the Villa. The whole world was against us. I am very proud to have served the government of Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan. I was in the campaign for Obasanjo in 2003, we did all that.”
The former minister said Wike was fortunate to have become minister and governor in quick session but that, he said, does not give him the right to see himself as the boss in PDP.

“There were people ahead of him, but he came in and started behaving like a tyrant and what has he done, every key player that left PDP did so because of him, due to his lack of restraint and decency, and the harsh words he uses on anybody that does not agree with him,” he added.
Calling Wike a serial traitor, he said: ” Jonathan helped him, he betrayed him, Ameachi helped him, he also betrayed him . Every single person that has helped this man he has betrayed and now he gets there, casting aspersions on everyone.
“The other day, he called another Governor a psychiatric patient simply because the man said he supported and liked Buhari. Go and ask them in PDP, he brought in Ali modu Sherrif, there was a problem he fought him, brought in Markarfi, he still fought him, he went to bring Secondus, he fought him also. He attacked the Yoruba at a particular time that the PDP Yoruba wing couldn’t win election. How can any normal person stay in a party with someone like that.”
He continued: “Wike is advising Jonathan not to leave PDP and go to APC, he doesn’t know what has been going on behind the scene. He knows nothing, he only hear his own words. But let me tell you, if people like Jonathan want to leave PDP, it will be because of person like him simply because what respect did he show Jonathan after Jonathan lost an election in 2015? What caused the loss of PDP in 2019 when the party went to the field against the APC and Atiku lost? Was it not the same Wike that we are talking about, complete tyrant! He’s the last person anybody will take seriously over anything.
“He treats other governors in the party as if they are children. They won’t tell you this openly, they will come out to defend him and I don’t care, that’s their party. That’s what this man does. Imagine a man like that having power at the center, nobody would be safe. He talks about other people’s past as if he knows anything himself. What does he know There was a time I saw him mocking and insulting traditional rulers on national TV, we don’t do that where I come from.”
Warning that if Wike attacks him again, he would respond in kind, Fani-Kayode wondered why his defection to the APC created so much chaos if truly he has no political value.
