“Your Excellency, I must say that Nigerians are indeed very proud of your rare display of patriotism and selflessness by ensuring that you always place national interest as uppermost in your leadership style as President of the Nigerian Senate.
“It is on record that the cordial relationship which your leadership as Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly has accorded the executive arm, had in no small measure helped Mr President in actualising most of his administration’s campaign promises to the masses.
“As a high ranking senator who has been in the National Assembly since the return of Nigeria’s democracy in 1999, you have helped in the deepening and strengthening of the country’s fledgling democracy.”
Governor Bello further stated that under Lawan’s leadership, “many bills and motions that will have far reaching impacts on the socio-economic and political developments of our great country have been passed. Key among them are the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the Electoral Amendment Bill.
“While I wish you well as you clock another year, I urge you to continue to work for the overall growth and development of the country in the years ahead. Happy Birthday, Your Excellency”, he added.
