Kwara APC Stakeholders Dismiss G15 Rally Claims, Insist Postponement Due to Poor Support
The mainstream faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has rejected the explanation offered by the Kwara APC G15 Supporters for postponing their planned solidarity rally, insisting that the decision was driven by a lack of grassroots support rather than security concerns.
In a statement signed by Kwara Progressives, the group described the G15’s account of events as misleading, arguing that the proposed rally failed to attract the level of support anticipated by its organisers.
According to the statement, the postponement reflected “the realities on the ground” rather than the reasons advanced by the G15 supporters, who had cited concerns over a planned parallel rally and advice from security agencies.
Responding to claims that the G15 was fighting for internal democracy within the APC, the mainstream stakeholders maintained that the party’s primary elections were conducted in line with APC guidelines under the supervision of officials from the party’s National Headquarters.
They stated that the emergence of the APC’s candidates, including the party’s governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, was the outcome of a democratic process and should be respected by all aspirants.
The group argued that participation in the primary election also required acceptance of its outcome, adding that attempts to discredit the exercise after participating in it undermine the democratic principles the G15 claims to uphold.

The statement further pointed to what it described as the impressive turnout at the **#KwaraNdupe** rally, organised to appreciate Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the APC leadership for supporting the party’s candidates.
According to the stakeholders, the attendance of party members, youths, women, elders, and other supporters demonstrated that the majority of APC members in the state remain loyal to the mainstream leadership of the party.
They also criticised remarks made by the G15 regarding the state’s security situation, describing allegations that Kwara has become a “terrorised state” as misleading and politically motivated.
The group maintained that while security remains a national challenge, Kwara continues to rank among Nigeria’s relatively peaceful states, with the government investing in security, infrastructure, and economic development.
On allegations that local government funds were used to finance the solidarity rally, the stakeholders dismissed the claim as baseless, saying no evidence had been presented to support the accusation.
They insisted that local government resources remain dedicated to grassroots development, while the rally was funded through the voluntary contributions of party members and stakeholders.
The statement concluded by urging aggrieved party members to channel their grievances through the APC’s constitutional mechanisms rather than attempting to delegitimise the outcome of the primary elections.
The stakeholders expressed confidence that the APC in Kwara State remains united behind Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the party’s candidates, pledging to focus on strengthening party cohesion and preparing for victory in the 2027 general elections.
